During the play one of main target personally to me was to work on my voice, projection in general because we also did the play Medea and when I was at the back saying my lines at times my voice dropped and you couldn't really understand me and because I have a deep voice it made it harder to hear me so I decided one important skills I need to develop is my voice. How I look to work one my voice is by working on tone, pitch and articulation for example practising tongue twisters and reading with different tones and pitch, this was to help my voice develop.
Another skills that I need to develop is trying to keep my head up most time this isn't a big concern because I normally look up while performing just once in a while I would look down at the floor and it makes me look like I'm unsure about my lines to the audience when I'm not. I need to remember always to look up and when rehearsing I need practice not looking down and in time it I would automatically know never to look down while having to think about it.
When working with the dancers I enjoyed it because the dance was easy and fun to learn also it was a nice experience brings the two classes together because everyone got on and worked great together. Also it was nice to try something different because we always act; it was nice to try some dancing and some movement in our work. I found it interesting how the dancers worked so when some of the actors had to read out letter from the Greek pieces and the dancers would make a dance to go with it just by listing to it, I found that captivating to watch seeing them create and try out new styles to see what goes with it perfectly.
I think we achieved our goals that we set out with at the start because we have accomplished a lot working with the dancers and the final piece that we created together was really good, the actors and dancers loved it and I'm sure the audience enjoyed watching it.
What went well with our country’s good with my group was that we knew our scene inside to we found many ways to play around with it and we portrayed our scene in a good way it was well spaced out everyone wasn't all bunch up and we used movements and other techniques as well. One main technique we focused on was communication because within our scene they way the character spoke to each other quite interesting for example there wasn't any silent moments in our since, when my character was trying to speak Joseph character wouldn't let me because his character was smart but self observant so he was kept cutting so when performing our communication had to be on point because it made our more naturalistic and showed our characters in a more believable light.
With Jamie we used synchronisation in the scene as well like for example we had a line where me and Jamie would say “no sir” and we would both solute, we came up with this idea while messing around with the scene and me and Jamie was speaking at the same time and we thought that bit sounded good so we decided to try it and used it.
One thing that I think would make our scene better is if we had worked on the positioning a bit more because looking back at it now I realised that our scene was not in the exact middle of the stage it was more to the right, we had shift down without realising.
I think the production element was pretty decent because while working with the dancers on the Greek theatre pieces because when they played the letter that we record it was clear also the lighting was pretty good especially when changing scenes. While performing the light didn't really affect me when looking ahead or distracted me.
I think my skills over this term has improved all around and I have become a better actor and I still am learning new things for example me ability to recall lines has become much more efficient because we only have about 2/3 weeks to learn our lines and everyone tries to come off script as soon as possible so that they can generally focused more on the scene and not all their time learning lines.
Also to be able to workout with anyone was a skill that always improves and is great to have because everyone has different working style and its good to try new ways and you can even adapt their style with yours and it’s good to work different people because you always learn new things.
One of my main goal at the start of the term was to improve my voice when speaking I used to speak to fast at times but them I learnt to slow down my lines so that the audience could understand what I was saying also it made the scene or monologue I was doing more interesting instead of it looking like I was trying to rush the scene and get it over with. Also by slowing down the lines when I’m speaking gave me a chance to catch my breath while performing.
